Memory Lane at MIA

I was trying to find a place to get a snack and watch the NBA Finals tonight(when in Miami), when I came across a place that I had spent time in January 2010 right before I went into Haiti to help with the GLA relief efforts.  To my surprise the same waiter was working.  Not remembering me at that moment he asked me where I was heading.  I told him.  When I reminded him about GLA and the disaster/ miracle of Samuel, he recalled every bit of our over two year old conversation immediately.  Amazing.  I was able to share pictures of Samuel and Luke with him.  He was so pleased to hear the good news about our story.

Everywhere I walk in the airport reminds me of what happened two and a half years ago.  I spent a moment by Chili's Restaurant.  This was the first place Jill and I had dinner for the first time with Samuel and the Haglaunds.  I came across the same shop where I had to buy a shirt because I was going on CNN at the last minute.  I hadn't packed anything nice not knowing Larry King would be picking up our story.   And just staying in this hotel one more night reminds me of the preparation and planning that took place to bring those babies home after the disaster.

January 2010:  Jill, Samuel, Kent, Cathleen and Anri Haglund (RIGHT after we were united with the boys!)

January 2010: Anri & Samuel (MIA Hotel, First Night with our Boys!)
